Clinic Mastery Marketing

Case study · Physiotherapy · Cromer, NSW

PhysXrehab · 6 to 12 months inEight to ten new patient enquiries a week

Steve had someone doing his Google AdWords before we met. The budget was managed at around $600 to $700 a month, the person running it cost another $200 to $300, and Steve is honest that he is not sure how well it was working at the time. When he joined Clinic Mastery, moving the ads across to Pete felt like the obvious choice, because that is where he saw one of Pete's main strengths. We took the campaign over, changed it, and stayed focused on finding the right keywords and the right campaign to grow the business. By Steve's count, new patient enquiries went from 3 to 5 a week to 8 to 10, on under $1,000 a month in ad spend. The books are growing, and some of the pressure has come off.

The starting position

Where the clinic was when we started.

Steve is upfront about the marketing before we met: he had someone doing his Google AdWords, and that was the arrangement. The budget was managed at around $600 to $700 a month. The individual running it cost another $200 to $300 a month on top.

Was it working? Steve is honest about that too. I'm not sure how well that was working at the time, is how he puts it. Definitely better is how he thinks things compare now, and those are his words as well.

The decision did not need agonising over. When Steve joined Clinic Mastery, moving the AdWords across to Pete felt like the obvious choice, because that is where he saw one of Pete's main strengths. Nothing really stopped him going ahead. He felt the clinic needed to make a change, and that is what he did.

What we did

The work, in the order we did it.

Took over the Google Ads from the person running them.

Steve had someone looking after the AdWords at $200 to $300 a month, on a managed budget of around $600 to $700. When he joined Clinic Mastery, the campaign moved across to Pete. He felt the clinic needed to make a change, and that is the change he made.

Changed the campaign instead of carrying the old one.

Steve's own summary of the work: Pete changed his AdWords campaign and made it more beneficial. That meant not simply running what the previous person had built. The campaign the clinic runs now is not the campaign we inherited.

Stayed focused on the right keywords and the right campaign.

What stands out for Steve about how we worked together is focus. Pete was pretty focused in finding the right AdWords and the right campaign to help grow the business, in his words. The spend still sits under $1,000 a month by his figure, in the same neighbourhood as what the old arrangement cost all up.

The move across

The money stayed in the same neighbourhood. The campaign did not.

Before, the old arrangement

  • Someone doing the Google AdWords, at $200 to $300 a month.
  • A managed budget of around $600 to $700 a month.
  • How well was it working? I'm not sure, is Steve's honest answer about the time.

Now, moved across to Pete

  • The campaign changed, not carried. Made more beneficial, in Steve's words.
  • Focused on finding the right AdWords and the right campaign to grow the business.
  • Under $1,000 a month in ad spend, his figure, with enquiries roughly doubled.

The decision sat between the two. When Steve joined Clinic Mastery, moving the AdWords across felt like the obvious choice, because that is where he saw one of Pete's main strengths. Nothing really stopped him. The clinic needed a change, and this was it.

All the figures here are Steve's own, from the story he gave us. He gave ranges and words rather than exact spends, so no bars are drawn on the money.

The numbers

Before and after, line by line.

Every figure in this table is Steve's own count and his own words, not our ad account reporting. A typical week used to bring 3 to 5 new patient enquiries and now brings 8 to 10, on under $1,000 a month in ad spend. The grey rows hold the old arrangement's money, and the honest row is his own read on how well it was working back then.

Yeah, look, I've really enjoyed working with Peter. He's a good operator. He understands the industry and understands the market. You know, he changed my AdWords campaign, made it more beneficial. So overall, I was very happy with his interjection into what we were doing. And yes, I'd highly recommend him.

What's next

Where the work goes from here.

Steve's next step is one he named himself: focus on the area a little bit more, and have a look at what it is all doing. We would rather an owner look closely than take the numbers on faith, so that is a welcome one. The ads keep running at under $1,000 a month while the enquiry flow holds. The books are growing, and the next move on budget happens when the books ask for it.

He's increased our referrals from Google by a good 25% and it's still going up, since coming across to Pete from our previous agency, and he's been more cost effective than the last agency. So I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Pete. He's an absolute weapon in this space of Google Ads.
